How do I extract a logic element from a level and publish it as a standalone item?
I’m working on a level using a remix of the work of others, where my main contribution is the Logic
Once it’s working I’d like to publish JUST the logic (in “Contraptions” I guess), so that others can remix.
All the logic is resident in nested Microchips, so it should be easy to isolate it.
When I do publish, I see the need to explain the workings to the user. It needs several connections to both the world it arrives in and the puppet. These connections need to be communicated. Also, although I’m putting effort into structuring the logic nicely, I feel sure that embedding explanations of how it works, and why it’s structured this way would be highly desirable. In many cases, I don’t really understand why I had to make certain connections. By trial and error, I discovered ways to get things to work, so when I look at what I’ve done, it’s not even obvious to me what I was trying to achieve!
Bottom line, I need help with:-
1. Extraction of a Microchip and its contents and publishing as a stand-alone product
2. A method of documenting the logic within the published item

You can just have a chip - select it and then you can save it as its own creation from the menu on the right. But for presentation you might consider putting it on a simple block so it’s easier to find/see? I’ve only done it for my own stuff to transfer between scenes so not worried about that too much.
As for documentation - how about text display gadgets in the microchip - when the user selects them they’ll see the text in the world or they can read by tweaking. If you don’t connect them to anything they could work well? -
'@MrKlawUK, thank you for your excellent thoughts. I had missed the “save as creation” function, probably because I so rarely “select” things. That looks as though it will solve my need!
The Text Displayer is not so useful. I hoped I’d be able to plonk down a resizable text box in unused space within a Microchip, but sadly, the Text Displayer is not resizable.
When selected, a fixed width box appears. It’s inconvenient to have this pop in and out of existence and even worse, the font size choices are all very large and the box can’t be enlarged to accommodate a few paragraphs of text. However, I do appreciate the idea of a workaround. Thank you.
I hope that the Molecules read this and consider a better solution. -
I use an unpowered subtitle displayer to comment my chips. I make it Bright orange and Label it read me. When they hover over the chip, the subtitle comment will come up, but since it's unpowered, it won't show up any other time.

Thanks for sharing this technique! I’ll try it out later
