Smoothly walk puppet from one door to the next?

I have two rooms connected in a dream but when I walk through one door, he comes out in the next room with the imp out and needs to be repossessed. Wondering how I automatically force the possessive on the puppet?

  Scope in to the puppet. Open up the microchip at its feet. Tweak the controller gadget. On the last tab there should be a "possession mode" part with 4 buttons. One should say "force possess."
  
  ...Or it might be in the puppet's tweak menu? (Not at my PS4; sorry.)
