How do I Trim sound recorded in the Sound Recorder?

  • hellokojack

Haven't tried it myself but have definitely seen Mm trim the end the same way as the start in their streams.

Just drag the end marker, it's in the Slice Mapper where you are presumably trimming the start as well.

    Thank you Bogdan

I had no idea there is a “Slice Mapper”!

When I opened the Sound (L1 X), the controls were invisible since they were above the top of my screen. All I could see was a rectangle hanging from the top of my screen containing horizontal rectangles.

So I went into Tweak and found “Start Time Offset”, which made me think that “End Time Offset” must be around here somewhere!

QUESTION: Now that you’ve helped me discover the Canvas, I can see my Sound in the top “stripe”, and I can move it to other stripe positions, but what is the purpose of the other 7 stripes?

(It would appear that they could hold other Sounds, but there’s nothing to indicate how this might be possible.)

I incorrectly said “All I could see was a rectangle hanging from the top of my screen containing horizontal rectangles.”

In fact, at this stage there was only a grey rectangle.

I went back through the steps to verify this.

It would be much better if the Sound Recorder’s window opened a bit lower on screen so that its top is visible by default.

    The current implementation is confusing

Answer to your "QUESTION:": You can Tweak the Slice (L1 + square) and in there somewhere (possibly Options) is the ability to define the Slice as an Effect or Instrument, and another option to give the Stripes categories - Effects are given categories such as walking on various types of terrain, Instruments are given button assignments so they can be used like a drum kit.
