Dreamshaping - In-engine timelapse feature
Hi guys,
I have an idea for an in-engine time-lapse feature for elements.
Over the past few generations a lot of games have logged player keystrokes/coordinates so that they can be played back via in-engine cinema tools.
Alex mentioned that Dreams already saves and loads elements in a similar way by storing all individual shapes/edits in your final creation and rebuilding them in a matter of seconds whenever it loads a Dream. So I wonder if it's possible to slow this down and view the creation process from start to finish, shape by shape, in sequence like a time-lapse?
It could be a great way to release galleries, tutorials and showcases directly into the Dreamiverse without going off site or recording hours and hours of raw footage.
I hope that made sense. I realize it's not on the roadmap but perhaps somewhere down the line it may come to fruition. Thanks for reading!
tldr: I think it would be cool to see creations popping into life from scratch.

Yeah have wondered how this isnt a thing in Dreams. Given the way the engine works. Would love to see it!

They actually released a video way back showing a house build itself up from scratch like that. It was very cool! And I'd love for this to be a feature.
I think the reason it's not at the moment is, any tool or setting can be used for many objects in a game. So it all has to be real-time. Some edits will take like half a second to add to the sculpt, and the GPU can't really do much apart from build a sculpt--which is why it does it while the scene loads. So this could be pretty bad to use in a game.
I would be awesome if there was a low-framerate rendering mode, specially for screenshots, videos, and timelapses like this. But that would be a whole other kettle of worms ;P
