    Maybe try take a look at the cuboid underneath the paint with the sculpture detail tool and see if it is consuming much thermo (red areas consume more) and can be reduced.

    For paintings I guess it depends on how many strokes you use for the look you want to achieve. At times you may save on number of strokes used to achieve a certain look or effect simply by using a more appropriate fleck type & size, so that may be a good place to start and see if you can make savings there.

    Also for a mossy effect you can reduce the amount of paint stokes needed if you add highlights (such as dark browns & greens) under the paint strokes using the sculpture spray paint tool. Hope this helps.

    Thanks both good tips. The video is very helpful too. I think probably what is going on is when I scale the blocks the painting gets a bit stretched around - which means there are just too many of them overlapping. Also, because there is paint on every side of each block, building something out of them means the area is too full of paintings. Think I probably just need to mix it up a bit with some blocks with paint and some without - maybe some spray painting too.

    There are other paintings in the scene but in a different line of sight - so they don’t need to be rendered at the same time.

    Another handy tip here that may work for you may be to get rid of the paint strokes altogether and use layering of sculpts to achieve the same/similar effect.

    If you copy your cuboid, alter its colour to green, increase its looseness and place it on top of the current cuboid rock sculpt you can make it look like a mossy rock.

    Altering scale & rotation of the loose copy as well as its fleck type and impasto etc could produce very good results for less cost to thermo and what the game can draw on screen without slowdown.
