Is there a way to select a bone on the puppet that does not have a sculpt?

I fully cut away the pelvis of my character because it looked better for the legs to run directly into the waist. Now I can’t select the pelvis bone to pose my character since there is no sculpt to select. Is there a way to select the pelvis bone now or should I never fully delete a shape on a puppet as a best practice?

Also, I tried to add a pelvis back to the puppet and re-rig it using the body structure menu, but it does not work. All the bones stay greyed out and nothing connects to the pelvis.

Any help with either of these issues?

    Im trying to figure this out as well ATM
    I think especially the pelvis is the central part of the puppet.
    Maybe it works if you sculpt something small, make it invisible , and put connectors on it?

    You would probably have an easier time if you simply hide the body parts you don't want and disable their collision. Then you can turn off the preview hidden toggle in the show menu to manipulate them.
