How do I add notes to the Piano Roll?

Making Music is the only thing that I've never tried before in LBP, but I really wanna try to make some stuff in Dreams.
I figured I have to add instruments to the music timeline, and then add notes to the instruments which I guess also act as mini timelines :P?
I can't really figure out how to add notes to the Piano roll, I can play the sounds when I Imp Click the buttons but I can't save anything to the timeline.

  There's an entire tutorial for sound. Until you play that: there is a draw notes tool and you can simply record them on the the performance sheet pressing L3 + R3 at the same time. If you want a count-in, click the second circle to the upper left. When changing to the roll with some notes already on there, you can always just rearrange them and copy them as usual with L1 + R2, change the volume, drag them for sustains... there is plenty of stuff in there, so don't forget to play the tuts.

  Go to the tools menu when in Sound mode, you'll find the pencil icon that you can use to draw notes.

  '@davidnorth100 Thanks, didn't realize i need the pencil for that.
  
  @skillphiliac I have played the tutorials and remember nothing about making your own notes, they just show placing sounds that have already been made.

  Yeah I think its not intuitive. I'd like to see a shortcut for that tool in the piano roll view itself.

  We don't have a tutorial in the Beta yet for using those tools, but it's coming! BTW in freeform view you can just hit record on the right side of the screen and perform, then edit the result in piano roll, as another way to quickly get some notes in.
