How to make an object go back & forth by itself.

I am trying to make an object go back & forth by itself. I tried using a keyframe but it seems to need power to operate it & there doesn't seem to be a way to give it a timing to go from point A to point B. Then I tried using the mover gadget but I cannot get it to move exactly where I want it because it has to travel a long distance. Even if I could then I need to get it to come back again. I thought this kind of thing would be easy to do. I thought I would be able to use something like a keyframe then tell it how long it should take to get to point B then be able to reverse it & keep it going in a continuous loop. Any suggestions?

    Hi,

    This is quite easy with the right gadgets,

    First put the object where you want it to start.

    Then keyframe where you want it to go.

    Finally grab a signal generator gadget and wire that into the keyframe.

    Now the object will be going back and forwards once a second, tweak the signal generator to adjust the timings :)

    I personally just took a signal generator and put it directly into mover. Then I made it so the signal went from -1 to 1. Whatever works for you
