How do i make lightening

I wanna make a thunder storm.
I thought using a light and making it pulse intermittently would work, not sure how to go about that tho.

Or possibly using the same method for rain but making a passable lightening shape and lighting it up?
Any ideas?

    Hey,

    There are plenty of possibilities, but one good way to make lightning is to use Paint Mode to make some lightning-shaped paint strokes.

    Then, tweak the Painting and add glow. Finally, one of the tabs will have a slider for Animation Speed. Turn this way up, and on the same page, enable the Pulse option.

    Start time running with R3 to see the result!

    Regarding the intermittent pulsing I'd probably just use a timeline to animate the glow or whatever. Of course you could do that with pure logic, probably involving a randomizer and counter in combination. When the counter completes you reset the counter with a new random value for duration.
