How to cut into a sculpt you’ve exited out of.

After I build a sculpt and exit out of the sculpting tool I am having a hard time attempting to edit that sculpt. Specifically cutting/shaving off... thanks

  You might have scoped out of the sculpture by accident - Use L1 and X to scope back into the sculpt, then make sure you have the stamp or smear tool selected and press triangle to switch to/from cutting.

  You definitely have to scope back into the old sculpt to edit it. Any new sculpting will be on a _new_ sculpt, even if that overlaps the original one, hence it's impossible to make a cut on the old one.
