Why are explosions so difficult for me?

    Hi,

Explosions are my favourite thing to do,

    Try this

Go into paint mode and start a new painting,
Select the pen brush (the more you press R2 the bigger your stroke)

Then draw a single line, pressing R2 a lot straight away and fading out so the line gets thinner.

Leave the painting and tweak it.

Hi to the clone page and set the option to clone in all directions
And turn the jitter slider up to the max

By now it will look like an explosion paused in mid air

Now go to the animation page, turn the animation speed up high (have time running at this point from now on to see your changes happening)

Set the option to pulse and set the trail length to quite short

Set the time offset to zero

Then go to page one and turn the glow value high.

Now you should have an explosion going off every second or so?

Go to the page with the fade out option and turn that in.

Finally back to the animation page and turn off looping.

Now just emit your explosion when you want it to happen

    Side note,

The keyframes in our explosion is to just add a bit off finesse, changing colour and speed over time etc.
Start simple for now though :)

Thanks will give that a go. Think I was missing the pulse part to get that movement in.

How about changing colours eg bright at start, then darker at the end? Is that what your fireworks do? Difficult to see as the actual firework seems to stay tiny

You can create keyframes and put them on a key frame timeline to animate the color. I created an ignite rocket fx that does this if you remix it.
