Scoping into and out of sculpts with another sculpture equipped?

So I know you can grab one sculpt "A" and press L1 + x over another sculpt to scope into another sculpt "B". But can I do the opposite? Grab sculpt "A" and take it back out of sculpt "B". This comes up when I am attaching things to my puppet and want to take things on and off, so when I separate the two sculpts the hand detaches from the puppet, and I can't for the life of me get the hand to act normal again if I reattach it myself.

  You can indeed, just scope out while holding the object with L1 and circle

  Have you tried grabbing the object to pull out of the sculpt and pressing Alt+circle while still grabbing?
