Using text displayer to turn light on/off

  • TAPgiles

The easiest way would be to just add a keyframe that turns the light on, and make it start and end at the same time as the text starts and ends.

Open the text gadget tweak menu and go to the last tab, there’s an output for Text Active that will do exactly what you need :)

Thank you for the replies...I've tried linking the text active tab to the power tab of the light, but it does not turn it on/off when the playback head of the timeline plays over it. I know sometimes you need to place a switch or a not-gate between the two items, just not sure which. The key frame idea will work, but now I want to know what I'm doing wrong with my original idea. Thank you Tap & Pook. Lots more questions coming :)

Update : Hey Pook! Your idea has been working all the time. It just doesn't show the light as being active, unless you are in TEST mode. I wrongly assumed the light gadget would blink or light up while in edit mode. Kind of confusing, as some gadgets do light up when wiring is correct. Thx, again.

I think the timeline needs to be powered (not just previewed), and perhaps time to be running for logic stuff to work.
