What are the glowing globes that appear in objects when I'm timeline-animating said objects?

  • Denjo92

That's the position of the next or previous keyframe. If you hold L1 and press left or right on the D-pad you can switch between them. I don't think there is a way to turn them off unless you put them out of the timeline.

Now that I think about it. Try disabling the blend mode between two keyframes.

    Hi Denjo92, thanks for commenting!

I turned off the blending, and, you're right, that does turn off the globes. It would be nice though to be able to show or hide the globes like we can with connectors, wires, etc., since turning off the blending kind of defeats the purpose of animating on a timeline. But turning off blending temporarily so I can see what I'm trying to animate could work as a workaround at least - thank you for the tip!

To be fair I think the globes can actually help you to animate, since you know where the next keyframe is located you can align the current one accordingly.

In theory I could see how they could, but in practice, at least for me, they hinder me. A 3D version of onion skins could work better, but the globes are too abstract, and when I'm trying to do precise animation shifts they often obscure the part of the object I'm trying to animate, so I think it would be helpful to be able to turn them off.
