How do I make icons show up in HUD?
There are multiple text display gadgets but no one seems to have an option to show pictures/stickers/icons.

Hi! This is actually achieved through a shortcut system when inputting text. What specific icons are you looking for? Here's some common controller icons to try. Type them into a text field, including the <> symbols:
We'll document this a bit more thoroughly at some point, but hope this helps for now!

I'm referring to custom made pictures. Like hearts or health bars.

There aren't any pre-made HUD components as such, you just make them like anything else. If you could be more specific about what you want to achieve, that might give us more of an angle to help you with some suggestions for techniques.

That said, we do have a heart icon too: try using the text gadget.

Thanks for the reply. I want to show the health of my character with hearts on screen like in zelda or Mm cat/water demo. So there is no tool for that like the text tool. Ok. I'm not on my console right now. But I would guess I have to create objects that follow and rotate towards the camera. If that even possible.

Hi! Sorry it took a while to get back to you.
The Mm cat demo is still just using the text gadget, but emoji hearts, probably with  - try some different emoji codes to see what helps!
By default, the text gadget sticks the text to the screen; you don't need to angle it towards the camera. You can toggle this in the settings tab (fifth one along) with the "In Scene" setting at the top.

Hey! I'll comment here as I have a similar question.
I want to make a HUD with my custom symbols, so after reading this I just created a couple of paintings to use them as icons. But how do I make them stay in the same position of the screen when the camera moves?
Thanks :) -
I would also like to ask about the common controller icons to put in text boxes - is there a way to do the buttons from the d-pad? What would I have to type to get them to show up?
-
To make icons that hover in a HUD style, I suggest making an invisible frame that clips through the world and runs away from the player's vector of movement. Set the camera so that the frame is always out of the camera's view. But then you hang paintings and set text displayers so they're hanging off of the picture frame, into the view of the camera.

I'd like to make custom icons too but I don't want them to be affected by scene lighting. They should be completely uniform. Pre-defined icons or emoji aren't sufficient. I hope some feature is added to make this practical.
