Make look at rotator stay upright on different axis?

Not 100% sure I understand what you mean.

One thing you can do is adjust the angle of the "up" direction. Does that help?

Thanks for replying. Sorry I will to go into better detail.

So my setup is a block which rotates on top of a base block, connected by a ball joint. Both blocks need to rotate, but I'd like the top block rotator to know that the upright position is the base block's local Y axis.

    Ah I see. Interesting.

You could try using 2 look-at rotators, one targetting a tag in the group (which will rotate to always be "above" the base cube). And neither on "upright" mode.

Or you could use two stages with bolts: one for left/right, one for up/down, and none for tilting. Then you can just use one look-at rotator on the final cube and it'll only be allowed to rotate in the axes you've set up with the bolts.

Sounds good, it'd be great if the 2 rotators work but I'll try putting both of those in motion later, thank you.
