    Or an alternative solution would be to turn of the auto fall damage. I can't do that either.

    If you're talking about a camera at a fixed point, but looking at the character, then a "look at" gadget would be correct, as @Magus mentioned.

    If you're talking about a camera that moves *with* the character, then a "follower" gadget would be more suited.

    For either, first create a sculpt. Group a camera with that sculpt. Add the look-at or follower gadget to the group. Now the entire group should use that functionality.
