How do I do simple things like scaling?
I feel exhausted... I'm just not getting it, through move or dual shock controls... all I want is for a flat plane to put a square building on top of, and I can't even do that properly. None of the snap guides are working properly... I though the sculpting guide would help out far more than it actually is... I feel ready to quit, honestly, I feel this low... any help would be appreciated.

if you go to guides, turn grid on, turn 'precise move' on (which tries to limit movement to x/y/z once you start moving a little in that direction), turn 'show floor on' to give you a reference.
Go to sculpt mode and then tools and change to stamp mode not smear which is default. Stamp a basic cube down at around floor level. Now go to tools again and select the stretch <> tool. Now you can move to the sides of the cube and extrude them out to make the platform wider and deeper. Then you can move to the top of the cube and push it down to make the platform thinner.
hope that helps a little? -
Use up and down on the D pad to scale. Be aware though that the scale origin will be wherever your imp is on the object.

It's a bit of a lerning curve, for sure. Especially if you've never worked with game engines before. But Dreams has really simplified every aspect of game development, including sculpting, so at least know that it can't be made much easier than it already is, unless they add more limitations. Don't give up!
Before you get into serious attempts to create your first real dream, make sure you go through these steps:
1. Watch the tutorials
The tutorials are really helpful. Make sure you watch all of them!
They explain how all the tools work, and also give you a chance to try them out while you're watching. You can repeat any step if you need to clarify certain points.
2. Investigate the tools
Rather than trying to sculpt a specific thing, play around with the tools for a few days to figure out how they work. Hover the imp's pointer over each tool to get pop-up info about them.
3. View learning as part of the fun
If you consider the learning only as an obstacle to realizing your dream, it will definitely feel like just an annoying obstacle.
But if you view the learning process as a fun project in itself, and let your other dream projects rest for a while, just until you've understood how the tools work, it can be very rewarding in and of itself.
Learning game development, 3D sculpting, game logic, etc. is quite a big undertaking. Dreams has made it possible for more people to get access to these tools by simplifying them as much as possible. If you're at all interested in any aspect of game development, you shouldn't let impatience stop you from learning how to use these tools.
Nobody learned these things overnight. If someone seems to have learned in a day its because they've used similar tools before. At some point we were all beginners.
Don't be impatient! Once you've mastered these tools you'll feel that it was well worth the initial struggle! -
I can feel you pain. It took me like 5 hours to feel comfortable playing.
But here's some tips before you do anything just play all the tutorials except audio and animation save those for later when you start creating
After that go into a world and start with something simple like a egg.
Then try to get used to blending wheb see to make some anything you want really.
And throughout out all of this make great use of the L1 camera control and R1 control.
These two buttons help you to really get used to the controls, L1 helps you move on planes. Say your making something but you hate how the imp moves in and out, while your scultping hold L1 while you do it so you only create the plane you see.
If you want a top view hold R1 and get it where you want then hold L1 once you start sculpting. Remember though make sure your imp is on the right plane before you start.
Also make sure you reposition your imp Everytime you use L1 after a while and also when you reposition your hands
And don't give up and keep trying, pretty soon the controls will feel great and start to make sense. Even when they make the option to disable motion controls I will gladly keep them.
If you look at my profile you'll see one of my first post was me saying how much those controls sucked but now I love them! -
Second day in, and the frustration is much less present. Still learning stuff and getting acquainted for sure, but I feared I was never going to be good at my previous rate. Now I've made floor tiles! Currently working on a whole background. All your guy's help was most appreciated.
