How do I: easily find / define center point of circular shape?
so I want to have a rotating wheel, but whenever I make a connection with a motor bolt, it seems to connect just a bit off center.
yesterday I successfully made a wheel connect just as it should after setting origin of grid and then applying it to my circular shape. this time it seems to help me get in the general direction, however it's still a bit off center every time.
any advice for easy connector-connections, or will I have to fiddle around like this every time I want precise connections?
(I hope I am just missing something obvious like a center-button or something lol)

So this all depends on whether your wheel object is on grid. When you create your wheel make sure the grid is on. The imp will grab sculpts like torus, cylinder and sphere at their center point, so if you are using one of these to make your wheel just stamp them down.
right now you should be able to connect a bolt/motor bolt to the centre of the object but if you happen to move the wheel offgrid somehow (move it into place on a car or something) you can re-center the grid onto the wheel by hovering over the wheel and pressing L1 + Triangle while the grid is on. You should see the grid snap to the center of the wheel.
If the grid is too fine you can make it larger by pressing L1 + Up on Dpad (while grid is on) This can often make it easier to snap to center points too.
Hope this is helpful - Peter -
hey thank you for the answer! this does help.
while I tend to have the grid on when sculpting, I often moved the object around after sculpting, so this must have set off the grid.
also I understood the set origin center option (L1+triangle) as more of a copy tool. I always pointed at the floor for example, set grid origin and then grabbed my target object to 'apply' with triangle. good to know it's more direct than that.
thanks for the info! much love
