How do i make a sculpted puppet?!

  • QuantumSpanner

Use the snap to surface guide, and then group the objects all together when done sculpting.

Say you want to add a nose onto a head. Grab the nose with R2, and while grabbing press l1+X over the head a couple times to carry that nose in the scope of the head. Make sure you are in the right sculpt scope, everything but the head should be grey and blurry when you carry the nose into that group.
We will have in character creation tutorials to help out at a later date :)

This doesn't seem to work for me, I have a group of objects (fps gun) that I want to attach to the upper chest of a blank puppet. When I play the scene, the gun will move in the direction of the puppet when it moves, but it falls to the ground and gets kicked about by the puppet as well. I still don't know how to make a separate object actually stick to another one.

'@AtomicAcorn96 Try the concept out with the most basic thing first. Then apply it to your items.

    1. Make a square in sculpt mode, back all the way out of that sculpt afterwards.
    2. make a sphere in sculpt mode, and then back all the way out after placing it.

    We have 2 separate objects.

    3. While grabbing the square, we are going to scope into the sphere object by hovering over the sphere, and let go of the square over the sphere.
    4. Now back out of scope mode and as you can see, both objects are now combined.

Its the same thing Yann just said pretty much but try it with basic objects first like this example and then do it with your scene. Replace "square" with gun and "sphere" with the hand of your puppet.

Some times we gotta break it down simple first so I hope my comment helps in some way if not completely.

'@Subtenko Yes that's exactly what I've done with my object and puppet, it isn't working. I've tried every level of scope on the puppet and the best outcome I get is when (like they said) the puppet part is grey and blurry, I get an object that doesn't actually stick to the puppet but is constrained to where the puppet goes.

'@Mm dev - Bogdan/Yann How do you do it with the move controllers?

  • zerocub

You're sculpting outside of the puppet, you need to scope in first. The puppet is basically a 'group'.

L1-x on the puppet to get into it. Then L1-x on the body part you want to modify. it should put you in sculpt mode (if not, do L1-X again). Sculpt there and when you're done, L1-O to leave sculpt mode, L1-O to leave the body part. L1-O to leave the puppet.
