About Instruments Within Instruments

Yes. This gives you the flexibility to have entirely different instruments inside there that behave differently. Most of the time, I'd say that's what people want. Things like a drum-kit with a drum-roll instrument (which loops nicely) in the performance window next to a crash (which plays once) means you can hold a note in the roll, then move to the crash and the roll will end. If they were all forced to use the parent's settings you could not do that.

I've wanted this too, though, when making an organ with multiple voices in different octaves at once, and wanted to change things like volume of the parent and have it affect the nested instruments. But it wasn't too bad to double-tap X on a nested instrument to select all the instruments, and then tweak the volume of one of them to set all of them to the same thing.

Maybe some setting could be activated on the parent to override certain settings of the child instruments, something like that. But I'm guessing this would not be changed as you suggest, because it would break a lot of existing instruments at this point.
