Audio/Music: More Flexible Sidechaining Method (and its not just for compression).
Just incase I'm not the only person who comes here nowadays (I came from the PS+ influx), I'll post this discovery I had lastnight:-
Dreams has a built-in sidechain comp tool, but try this instead afterwards: If you output the "Envelope Out" of an audio clip/source into a 'SIGNAL MANIPULATOR ', then set the gadget to "Invert Mode" and output the manipulator into whatever you want to effect (even within the same or across different "audio channels" or "timelines"), you now have sidechain compression that doesn't have the limitations of the built-in Sidechain feature, EG you're not limited to 4 sidechains, and you now have some dynamic "shaping/envelope" control (Manipulator curves) AND you can use this to effectively sidechain "anything" that has ANY kind of input, even things like graphics & random parameters. I needed to sidechain comp some specific "low-medium volume" SFX over some purposefully "loud mixed" music and the built-in SC tools just weren't giving me wider the control I needed, so I messed around and discovered this.
I still need to learn how to simply "amplify" a signal/value (so we can effectively raise the "input gain" of the makeshift compressor) so its not 100% ideal yet but still gives us a lot more control!
