Way to find lost animated paintings?

I feel I have lost couple of smoke/fire etc animated painting in small scene...tested them with chips, one shot animation went ok and "smoke" vanished like it should. After that paint anim was invisible even after disconnecting chip leads from the paint.. no way to find it anymore.. is this glitch or am I somehow just deleted that paint item?

Rewind first to make sure it's not still at the end of that animation. Try turning off preview invisiblity also (menu > show/hide).
