Constant signal from held direction

You can put a timer that is set to positional and wired into the playhead of the timeline. Wire the L stick into that.

I'm not sure what's going on there to be honest; I'd have to take a closer look.

But I think probably the easier way of doing this is by using a puppet interface. Stamp one into the puppet's chip (you can find it next to the puppets in the menus). This gadget lets you send commands like "walk" and "jump" and receive data like "walk strength." That's the one you want. Plug that into your timeline and it should keep playing while you walk.

How have you connected the timeline up, have you got one of the splitter outputs wired into the power of the timeline. That should see the timeline run normally so long as you are pushing the stick.

Set a counter for the direction. So you wire the left stick into the increase of a 1 -0 counter it will send a constant signal out of counter full until you reset (wire end trigger on your animation and/or different direction input).
