how to effects to a instrument that already has notes.

You can place effect fields on a timeline. Just stamp the effect field gadget onto the timeline itself, at the time where you want it to affect the instrument.

It will affect every instrument in the timeline at that point in time, but I think you could make it affect just the one instrument by putting a timeline inside the timeline and putting your one instrument and the effect field(s) in that nested timeline.

On top of those, you can also move pre-existing notes in Freeform View around, even if they were made in the piano roll, and shift them into fields, but it's probably not the most efficient way.

ok ty MM that helped, but couldn't there be a button in free mode to add the effects to the instrument while the music is playing when notes have already been set without adding new notes in free mode?

Hey, I've been wondering this myself, however I just thought of a way to do exactly what you're after. I believe there's an effects field on the effects page if you tweak an instrument. Place an action recorder in the timeline and you can drag the node around the effects field whilst the notes play in the piano roll. And hey presto... hopefully.

Need to test this to know if it works!
