An audio Listening gadget that will listen to an audio channel an output a signal that I can wire to a light emitter - for example?

I think there's something in the controller sensor that reads audio from the mic, maybe?

You can plug a wire out of any sound's Envelope output on its last tweak page to output a (rough) signal. The speaker gadget also does it so you can pool together multiple sounds by sending them all to the same speaker. If you put a speaker in a timeline it will automatically do this routing.
