How to make a camera zoom transition?

When aiming, I want the camera to move closer with an ease effect. However during the period of the transition, the value becomes 0 and the camera moves to 0 position, then the intended one. How do I fix that?

On the camera there is a transition time, if you set it to say a second and set the blend type to smooth that should get what you need
