I was trying to make a custom character, but I found it really hard. Please help!

You have to scope in to each individual part of the puppet.
So if you scope into the head, you can then modify or sculpt it separate from the rest of the body.

There are existing streams by Mm about this. It may help to watch through a few of them as if they were tutorials. Some things will work slightly differently, but it should get you started...
