Animation/effect exclusion gadget idea
Hello MM team, I've been thinking about a possible gadget that would be really useful and there doesn't currently seem to be an appropriate work around.
I have a scene with a blizzard in it, the blizzard effect fills everything and so also goes inside buildings. Obviously I can make the inside of the building as a separate scene or use a trigger zone to temporarily disable the snow when I enter.
But I also want some free standing structures that are open on some sides where you can take temporary shelter and there's not really a way to deal with these unless I'm missing something.
What I'd like is gadget where you can set a zone that denies animations such as rain, snow etc.. or effects like fog, spotlights etc..
The way I'd see it working would be to have a zone setting like the trigger zone as well as a target option, like on the emitter to target things you don't want to penetrate the zone.
If there's already a way to do this and I'm missing it, I'd love to hear about it. Otherwise if this something that would be easy enough to implement?
Uses such as stopping rain under trees, inside structures and so on would become loads easier like this.

In my animation "The Ancient Contest", I made logic to turn off weather effects like snow and wind noise when you move inside, and it also turned on some white fog outside the doorway, so you couldn't see that the weather was off.
However, I don't think there is currently a way to make the effects remain on in certain areas, while they're off in others. It would definitely be useful is some kind of exclusion zone was added.
You might have better luck in the feedback section, though. I think that's where the new idea suggestions are supposed to go. -

Yes, I was talking to someone else who suggested trigger zones once you enter the building to toggle them off. But that doesn't really help with seeking shelter but still outside, like under a large tree for example.
I'd also like some foggy areas with sections of calm in them, think eye of the storm type stuff, which you could do easily with something like this but otherwise, would be practically impossible to do. -
Could you use a zone to destroy the flecks as they enter it?
Might need alot of modification of your effect to get it to work though.
