[DS4] Rotate an object along one axis with Precise Move (motion woes)
I want to rotate a sculpture by 22 degrees along the x-axis. This should be simple, but it's not; DS4 motion controls get in the way every time.
Precise Move is the only tool I know of which features a protractor. Locking its rotations along a single axis requires holding L2 to select the sculpture, then holding L1 to lock axis (moving an analog stick works, too).
However, the DS4's motion control rotates my sculpture along EVERY axis the instant I press L2. By the time I hold L1, the sculpture's a few degrees off-kilter and I don't have a good method to correct that. I'm at a loss.
Please tell me there's a really simple trick to make Precise Move manageable. Thanks for any advice.

I didn't know about the holding L1 thing. I'll have to test that. Did you find it in a tooltip or something?
Normally, if you move or rotate enough in a single axis without moving/rotating much in the other axes, it will snap the axis you're moving or rotating in anyway, without an extra button press. So it might allow rotating in any axis at first, but once it figures out you're probably only wanting to rotate it in a particular way, it should snap the rotation to *only* that axis. -
Wow! That works exactly how I want it. Not sure how I missed it. Leaned away from motion control when I should have leaned in? Anyway, thanks a lot!
Yes, L1 does the same thing. It's described in the Show More Info hover-over for Precise Move. -
Ah, figured out the problem. Just gotta stop easing off of R2 while nudging; The DS4 has hair triggers and it'll toggle R2 on/off very fast if you ride the deadzone.

Ah, cool. Glad it worked out for you ?
