Freeze objects
Whenever I place an object inside another object it's a pain to grab that again in a later stage, especially with the stretch tool. It would be great if we could freeze certain objects so they can't get clicked, allowing us to click underlying objects instead.

There is a freeze tool. Its in tools, and then its the snowflake icon.

Yup as the comment below the freeze tool is wonderful, I use it lots! You can also use the hide tool to hide things for while you're in edit mode to make things easier to see at times too. And both the freeze and hide tools have the ability to do a blanket unhide/unfreeze as well :)

Use a switch and a keyframe. The keyframe moves one object to the side. Everytime you need to to something on one of the objects just press the switch and it moves to the side.
