I know this might sound like a dumb question but How can I make a straight line? I mean without any dimensions. Just a regular straight line

To elaborate. Perhaps making a shape that's just a line...

Does the grid work while painting? If so, build a large, flat surface as a canvas.

Paint mode
Pick the brusk fleck mode
Pick your fleck
Pick your color
Scale down small as possible
Turn on surface lock
Paint your line
Delete the "canvas"

Paint stroke along a grid? or edit a shape via L1 + triangle in sculpt mode, and hover over the shape and increase the length in your preferred axis.

Have a look in the paint mode tutorials. You make rain at some point with a straight line tool.

If you want to make a straight line in paint mode, activate the rule fleck tool that allows you to draw in straight lines :)
