Water effects and ripples
Hello, MM team! Thank you for this amazing game!
Had a quick question mainly for John, but I'm open to any possible insights. There was a game informer coverage video where they showed off Francis wielding an electric guitar (that's it's own mystery to me), but I was wondering how the water effect ripples might have been made every time Francis made a splash? I figured something with the impact sensor, but I got lost quick.
I believe Christophe also had a similar effect happening in his top down platformer as well.
Thanks for any help you all can give!

Hi,
I achieved the ripple effect by first drawing a straight line with the paint tool.
I then tweaked it to have som animation speed, pulsed, play once and cloned the max amount of times around a cylinder (all painting tweaks)
Then once I had my ripple effect I emit one each time a foot hits the ground (find the heel strike outputs from the puppet interface gadget in the puppet)
And finally adjusted the emit position based o -
...on a laserscope position that shoots down from the puppets head and set to detect the waters surface.
It's a bit complex, let me know how you get on

Got it! Or at least something comparable. My water looks in no way as clean, and I had to tinker with some alternative logic, but definitely doable with the right know how. You're amazing, thanks!
