Adjust variable name options to current scope in the variable modifier etc.
When using a variable modifier and hovering over the variable name option, you can use up/down buttons to cycle through available variable names in the scene.
This is a great feature for saving time, however, when dealing with scenes with many variables, the list of options can become very long because the list contains every single variable name in the entire scene. This is true even if your current group only has a few variables and you set the scope to 'here'.
My suggestion is to update the option list to reflect the available variable names in the current scope. So if your scene contains 100 variables, but current group only contains 3, then if you set the scope to 'here' the options you have to cycle through is only 3.
This is a small improvement, but will improve quality of life for many people. This improvement can also be applied to any other gadget where you cycle through a list of options.

Ah yeah, I thought this might be a good idea. My guess is very few people will use the scoping stuff, only logic-heads like me ;P But it would be a useful tweak to how it works, for sure.

What would be nice is if they added a dedicated UI for "picking" options like this. So you get a window popup with a grid of variable names. It could also have sorting options or show recently used. The same UI could be used for picking <uitext> icons too!

That would be cool too. A grid layout would also be very useful for choosing fonts in a text gadget, so you could see all the options simultaneously
