Let's have a proper RGB/HSL/HEX colour picker with USER COLOUR PALETTE

The colour palette has been there from the beginning. In the colour picker, click the "+" button and it adds to the colour palette of the creation you're working on. Now it will show in the colour menus.

It would be cool to have the other features, agreed. They have been suggested before. For now, there are many ways to get those features through other means...

If you make a new sculpt, tweak it and set tint amount to 100%, you can grab the tweak menu and scale it up so you have fine control over moving the dot on the tint colour. Then you can use the normal colour picker to grab that colour (press X while hovering over the sculpt).

Or use a touch of logic with sliders to create the colour, then colour-pick from it the same way. The logic is simple and low-thermo, and you don't have to leave it in your scene. You can delete the colour-sliders block from the scene after you've created the colour you want and colour-picked it.

I have a tutorial on how to make such an RGB block: https://youtu.be/XL8RtyyfaL4 Or just import the block: https://indreams.me/element/opXPBagDCFM
And another on (an approximation of) HSL: https://youtu.be/X9vRvIMXnt0 And the block: https://indreams.me/element/oJysCzHDRVw

Thanks for all the info. But just to clarify, I'm talking about a colour palette that is available to all colour pickers, whether it be text boxes, paint flecks or whatever. And while I appreciate there are ways to build your own RGB sliders, my feature request is about making all kinds of colour selection as quick, easy and accurate as possible.

Yeah, that's what was confusing. "Colour picker" is a specific tool, which is used to set the colour that other tools will use--for which the utility approach works well. The colour settings are a whole different ball game; I didn't realise you meant those.

(Those tools work on paint, and sculpt inner hull colour too, BTW. Just not text boxes.)

Ah yes, sorry for the confusing terminology. Maybe I should have called it a colour selector? But yes, the proposed changes would ideally work with all the gadget colour selectors as well as the sculpt colour selector.

Ah got it. Yeah, these features have been suggested on here before. They'd be a good addition.

A potentially simpler addition would be to be able to tint/pick from any colour tweak setting. Then the utility objects we can make will be able to be used for *all* colours in the game.

    Good idea.
