You gotta be kidding, even this tentative feature works perfectly, just like that. You can even slice on PC, what a convenient thing to have.

Just to clarify: L1 + O, not X to scope out. Works across the board too, if you want only part of a grouped sculpture, just hold the element with R2 and scope out.
