How do I access the transparent microchips in a puppet?

I'm trying to edit the puppet in the first petrson shooter template, but most of the microchips are inaccessible. I'm trying to scope in multiple different levels but nothing I do will let me do anything with those microchips. Only the puppet logic at its feet which has lots of wires going to those chips.
Edit: I figured out how to access the muzzles flash one on the gun but there are 3 or 4 others that nothing works

  Turn off "preview invisibility" (menu > show/hide) so that you can see invisible or unpowered things. Also, turn on xray (menu > show/hide) to properly show gadgets inside of other things.
  
  Then you can just hover over the thing you want to look at and keep scoping in until you get there.
