How do I make something bendy?

  • Chickensquasher

As far as I know, using keyframe animation. A little time consuming if you want the individual leaves but it would work.

So would the "bend" be achieved from breaking the tree into parts and rotating each section (so the base is static and the top moves?)

  • Chickensquasher

That’s how I would do it.

Depends on how thin your trees are at the top. have you experimented with using painting strokes and then changing the physical properties of that?

  • Chickensquasher

That might be a better idea, as I’m more of a designer. I haven’t touched the art stuff yet lol

You could use the stroke tool. Paint a bush or tree starting at the base then back out and tweak the stroke. On the second to last page (Physical properties) there is an option to make the stroke physical. Select this and then turn up the floppyness just bellow it.

This wont work for all trees but it will deffinitely get you a long way. You could even use this technique for each branch to stop the trunk from looking too floppy.

Hope this is helpful - Peter :)

Awesome thanks Peter. I'll give it a go and if I get some good results I'll be sure to post them here :)

So a good way I found to make trees or leaves look like they're blowing in the wind is just adding a flow or a wave effect to the and you can go in and use the comb tool so that is going in the right direction of the wind
