Rotate from a specific point that is not a geometrical center or median?

  • Mm QA Team

You probably want to use a joint. to define the pivot point.

I assume you are using a rotator gadget currently. rotator gadgets always rotate around the center of mass of the object. If the center of mass of the object is not where yo want the point of rotation to occur.
To add a pivot point add a joint, usually a bolt. The rotator will then rotate the object around the joint pivot point (the purple part of the joint is the pivot point).

    I hope that helps

Even though its not very obvious, that is a great suggestion, thanks! I think many people will have the same question in the future, so you guys may want to copy this solution into a FAQ post :D

The bolt approach seems too complex for what i am adking here tbh. I just want a group of objects to rotate from a custom point. There might be no base, like a speceship with a long nose, so where do we place the bolt then? A grab point in rotators would solve this
