How do I: Make 2 grouped sculptures behave differently

To be more specific, I am trying to make a ring around a sculpture and i would like to make the ring move with the sculpture. I can do this part, but I would like the ring to spin but not the sculpture itself. When I put a rotator on the ring it falls to the ground instead of being around the sculpture.

I tried a follower but when I set the follower to minimum it bugs out and looks weird. When I set follower minimum to 0.1 it looks like its skipping while following the sculpture.

In case an example helps: A planet with a ring around it, the ring rotates but not the planet. The planet moves and the ring moves with while rotating.

  Not sure why it would fall to the ground. After adding the rotator, tweak the ring and double-check it's not been set to movable.
