Is there a way to jump back to middle when lost in space?

  • Mm QA Team

    Hello!

The easiest way to move around large spaces is to use the R1 button to grab an object that is in the distance and then push forward on the Left Stick.

Alternatively, you can also hover over an object in the distance and hold L1 when it is highlighted and then press R1. The camera should then "snap" towards the element.

    Hope this helps :)

Mike, there have been a few instances where my camera ended up way far away from anything in the scene, and when that happened I wasn’t able to position the imp precisely enough to be able to touch the chip with the imp to zoom in on it. It happened to me three times when I was converting microchips to their own creations and then jumping into those creations to edit them.

I ended up having to look around until I spotted the chip, then holding forward for a long time until I got lucky with my aim and an L1 press stuck.

I think it would be useful if the R1 camera functionality would snap to the object closest to the imp's tip (if it's not actually touching an object). This would help when objects are super small or far away, with nothing but sky behind them. (Adding to feedback now...)

What if there is no object in site to snap on to? Lost in space.

I made a follower object that you can jump into and it will take you back to the centre of your scene.

    See "Scene Origin Finder":

I made a video to accompany it:

I made a post about this elsewhere. Didn't know this forum existed.

I was working on a sculpture for about 6 or more hours and somehow would up nowhere near my piece and there was no way to see it or find it. I tried turning on the floor and all the lights and made large objects to move around but this situation is hopeless in a limitless space environment.

I used Quietly Wrong's tool and was back with all my hard work instantly. I strongly recommend including a return to origin function in the menu, including QW's tool and or a map overview of all work in a workspace in case something goes missing.

There are no points of context at the starting point to find your way back and this is a big issue that i feel must be addressed, but should have a fairly simply solution (a return to 0,0 co-ordiate feature).

This might happen more often when switching between DS4 and the move controllers as this is what I was doing when i almost lost my work.

In case anyone finds this, another good way is to use the camera bookmark system. Point the imp at the icon at the top left of the screen, and click the default camera shortcut to get back home.
