can i get objects back once stored in an emitter?

i put an object in an emitter and didn't make a copy of it. i want to tweak it now but i can't edit the object in the emitter. is there a way to do this?

  You can turn on X-ray in the show/hide menu to see the object and edit it. Or Press Triangle over the "object to Emit" button in the emitter tweak menu to break the link to the object.
  Triangle can be used on most tweak settings to reset them to default :)

  Also if you press triangle to break the link. Then you edit the original - if you reselect the emitted object it’ll remember it’s location/rotation so it isn’t too bad if you need to edit. But x-ray sounds handy - i’ll have to try that

  Hmm - tried x-ray which shows the object when you tweak,the emitter. But I can’t hover over the emitted item and tweak it.

  X-ray doesn’t help for me either. The object is not selectable in any way, can not open the tweaks.
