"Simulate Language" preference setting

There are currently a number of systems in Dreams which uses the language of the console to present different things to the player or creator, such as displayer text, audio clips, translated gadget names, etc. And editing text will save it marked as for a specific language also.

This means that currently there is no easy way of testing to see what the experience is like for other language users, or to input text for other languages. The only way is for people who use different-language consoles input such text, or test to see how things are working. Unless you're in a large team with many people from all over the world, that's not feasible for you as a creator in Dreams.

At some point, the displayers will likely have some sort of UI for inputting text for different languages, but that kind of stuff takes a lot of design and testing work. So it seems to be way down the list of things to do (it's been on Mm's radar for years).

This is an alternative that should be a lot easier to implement: adding a simple option to simulate using a different language--both for playtesting, and for inputting text into displayers, and so on. (Maybe not change the normal UI, so that the creator can still understand setting names, etc... but everything else.) With one of the choices being "console's language," to get back to normal.

If this was implemented, it would be very easy for anyone to add translations to their game without using hacky workarounds (such as the ones I've created) to detect languages and change what version of the text the player sees. And also let people make sure their text is going to be seen properly regardless of the language of the console being used (a problem with a lot of kits released by the community that happen to include text displayers with text already in them).

It's not the ideal solution for these things, and that added UI stuff would be great to have at some point. But in the meantime, hopefully this should be a lot more attainable in the short-term. And allow us to make games that are accessible to people who don't speak our language more reliably and easily.
