As far as I know Imp customization is not available in the beta. You can at most unlock new imps with the Imp Quests and choose to use them.It will become possible in the full game.

As usual, the solution is simple yet effective. For 'shooting' sound effects this is actually even better than putting it in the emitted object as far as 3D panning is concerned.Thanks for replying!

Yes, it's not there. If I remember correctly, MM said themselves that Dreamsurfing wouldn't be available in the beta, but is still expected to come with the full game.
