Render Music to Audio Clip
So I had a problem in dreams with performance on the older gen consoles regarding music and I was thinking about recording some instruments and importing them back into dreams as audio files to save on memory then that got me thinking.
There should be a function to convert an instrument and song into an audio file with all of its effects to save on memory.
This has a couple of added bonuses like:
- In-game sample creation
- performance improvements
- bigger more complex songs
- more songs in a single level
I really hope this feature gets consideration because I think it would be a game-changer for music creators but also game makers for the added performance and ability to add more music into a single level!

Yeah, I think this is called "bouncing" (or flattening?), where the track is turned into a simple audio file. It's been requested before too.
I've heard of people trying to "bounce" their Dreams audio and re-import; I think that should work fine :D
None of this would necessarily save much on memory though... or at least, you'd just be using less gameplay thermo in exchange for more audio thermo. Also I'm not sure how this would help with performance necessarily. If you like, you can tell me about the perf problems; maybe I'll be able to give you some pointers to fix them.

Hello! In my post above I mentioned that I was thinking about recording the song and importing it as an audio file but this has some big problems
- Quality Loss through importing
- Importing is limited to 30 seconds, makes doing this very inefficient and resource heavy with longer songs
My performance issues relate to using reverbs and delays which would be fixed by converting the performance to an audio file. This is also how it is fixed in official DAWs. If you could convert it in game it would eliminate the quality loss and make it more accessible to more people. It would also make it so you can have your song in one audio file instead of multiple.
This also allows in-game sample creation which is huge and it allows songs to be way bigger and more complex!

How are you getting quality loss? Are you "exporting" using the SHARE button? Are you importing through the indreams Audio Importer tool?
-
Importing through the indreams Audio Importer tool. For synth sounds and stuff it can be pretty noticeable at points
-
Oh, that's very strange, as it's just importing a wav. Does the exported wav sound weird too? Maybe it's the way it's being exported.
-
The exported wav doesn't sound weird. I think that when importing the importer compresses the file and it loses some quality which can make it sound different. I almost always have to eq the sounds to make them sound closer to what they are supposed to sound like
-
Okay so I wasn't the only one noticing my imports sounding worse than the original file. I thought maybe my PS4 had the wrong output settings or my headphones were going bad.
Anyways, I agree it should be a feature. In the same way we can bake emitted objects we should "bake" a track into a sound gadget. From personal experience, exporting then imported multiple Dreamiverse songs saved me a significant chunk of gameplay thermo (and some graphics thermo). Audio thermo stayed almost the same; and honestly, I rarely see the audio thermo maxed out so why wouldn't you want to dedicate more audio thermo for tracks to save other thermos?
