How do I center a cylinder on the grid.

    First ensure the cylinder you are using is created on the grid to begin with. If the cylinder for any reason is not on grid (can happen easily by changing the size of the grid or by switching the grid off etc... then highlight the sculpt by hovering the imp over it and press L1 + triangle to align the grid to the sculpt.
    Then for a bolt, attach the two ends anywhere on the the two objects that are to be connected and move the pink part (the bolt part) to the center of your cylinder which should now be on grid. Rotate the bolt using L2 and the right stick so that the hinge rotates in the desired orientation.

    I tried that about a hundred times and it didn't work.  How do I describe this....It treated the cylinder as a box and lined up the edges against the grid (the center of the "circle" is evenly spaced away from the edges, centered in the "box" instead of on the "point")


    After your suggestion, I went in and tried it this morning.....and it worked fine.  I have no idea why it was different this time other than the fact that I used a controller instead of the Moves.


    As a side note, anyone who wants to avoid all of this can look up "Biv's Hinge" and use it at will.

    This is way, way harder than it ought to be. I would love it if MM reverted back to the model they used in LBP where any object like a cylindrical shape or a donut had a centre that something like a bolt or a motor bolt would automatically lock to. I also can't get the damned connectors to work at all as described below. If I join two objects up and 'line the pink part up with the centre of the wheel / cylinder" that never, ever works for me and does some really weird things with pivoting. I had grand ideas of making a ton of awesome vehicles in Dreams but I can see why there are only a few, and they're mostly rubbish. Probably because people are struggling with this as much as I am!!
