Reduce puppet whiplash when jumping

My puppet violently whiplashes it's head when running and jumping. The head seems to really lag behind the ascent and suddenly flings upwards, it looks painful.

When I shift+square into the puppet I tried setting "motion sensor movement" to zero. When I scope in to the puppet and scope into the controller sensor gadget I've removed the wire leaving the "motion sensor" setting too.

My puppet has the original head and I've not played with any of the joints. I've sculpted a helmet of hair around the head. This sculpt has not had any tweaks made to its settings.

Why is it whiplashing and how do I stop it?

  Look at the springiness setting.

  I think there is a stiffness setting too.

  There's a lag slider in the puppet's tweak menu. Try that.
