Best way to update all clones of a sculpt?
Common situation I find myself in:
- I made a sculpt of a general architectural shape.
- Clone it all over the place to fill out the general shape of my level.
- Want to go back and add detail to that sculpt, or make some small change.
It seems like unless I was very careful to always use live clone (not always possible due to grouping and sub-assets, and means I can never modify sculpts in place in other parts of the level) and always only modify the original, there is no way to do this without deleting my whole level and starting over placing all the clones again. Is there any way to make it so my changes to one copy of a sculpt are replicated to all other instances? Or a way to quickly replace one sculpt with another without modifying its position rotation and scale?
We have the ability to lower the detail of all instances of a particular sculpt, so clearly they are already considered linked by the engine.

Save your bit of architecture as it’s own sculpture creation (select it and you have the option to Save In the menu), then stamp that into your level wherever you want. Make changes to the independent sculpture, and then use the Update Mode in your level to update that object, it will reflect all the changes you’ve made.
If you want to make variations on your sculpture, do a remix so you have multiple versions. -
There are a lot of problems with that workflow though. It doesn't do anything for sculpts that have already been placed, and it doesn't allow for edits to be made in context of the level, and it is a very slow process in general, resetting all my guides and other settings. Having to plan out a full asset hierarchy from the very beginning seems very un-Dreams-like.

Critically, that means almost never sculpting inside the level, making it almost impossible to keep a consistent visual style and make things line up nicely.

You can still sculpt inside the level, saving as a new creations is an alternative to the life cloning - which I find more versatile :)

But once I modify the sculpt in the level, there is no way to propogate those changes to other copies of that separate creation. It only works if I sculpt by editing the creation outside my level then update.
