How Do I: move controllers mega thread

  • fawnover

Been exploring some unexplained controls for Move Controllers.

    For example: In Sculpt Mode...

Tap both lightballs together to quickly edit your shapes with precision.

Tap the controller bottoms together to turn on/off mirroring for the current scultpure

Tap the right ball to the left bottom to open the triangle color picker and saved colors quickly

And my favourite: tap the light ball to the right bottom to change between subtract and add sculpting modes. (This was super helpful, since it's so clear in DS4 mode, and unsaid in Move mode).

Controls like tilting sideways to Undo, and tapping the tips together don't make intuitive sense.
(I wonder if it'd be better to use one Move and one Dual Shock, so the buttons could remain the same?)

  • Col_Nelson

Moves need option to turn off inverted look. Killing me :(

lol I didn't realize the star button was on the right side on both controllers, and I thought the tutorial said hold down both start buttons to realign imps- I'd realign but also take a screenshot. I did this like 10 times before I realised what I was doing wrong ?

Has anyone figured out how to scope into a group with the move controllers? I just got mine so I am clueless. With the Dualshock it is L1 and X.

  • f8rty

Bastich76 it's triangle on secondary, X on primary.
triangle on 2ndary and circle on primary to scope out

Yesterday was my first day with dreams and the move camera controls were driving me nuts. I just couldn't figure out how to use them intuitively.

When I woke up today suddenly they felt second nature. The difference was so dramatic it was freakish. My brain must have been making some new pathways when I was asleep. I bet things will get even easier with more practice!

In one of the streams with kareem he made a tree that made the shape spin on the end of primary controller.
Does anyone know how to do this?
Also he opens the color pallet without going in menues any one know how?

What is the equivalent to the R3 button on the moves?

  • Nihlocke

Could you change left to "secondary" move controller? because I'm a leftie user and it would be more convenient for other lefties to learn this way, thx in advance.

  • squall4910

professorlillith : I think there is no shortcut on the move for the 'play' action. You'll have to open the menu with the trigger of your secondary controller and 'manually' click on the 'play' action.
Same for the rewind (which is on the L3 of the DS controller)

  • squall4910

Danjc84 : I don't remember the shortcut for how to spin a shape.
For the color pallet you have to tap the base of your secondary controller with the top of your primary controller (the opposite of the add/remove shortcut)

  • squall4910

Danjc84: Here is how to spin a shape (while holding it): Double-click O on your secondary controller to enable spin function then hold the trigger of your secondary controller over your shape(like if you would grab it) and move your secondary controller to spin the shape.
The speed of the spin will be proportional of the velocity you had on your secondary controller while grabbing the shape.

You can also use this technique with the Brush tool (to paint with spinning shapes)

About the spin thing, I've seen on youtube that with the Duel Shock you can grab a single grab point and spin it accurately using R2....Is the double circle the only way to do this on the Moves or is there a precise version like the Duel Shock?

  • Danjc84

Just adding how to after stream incase ppl missed it and for referance.

    With precise move on

When moving an object holding shift (left triangle) the axis line will become fixed in the direction of movement.

Also with precise move on if you want to move two objects together (precisely) start to move the object you want to move then hover over one of the faces of the other object you whant to move it towards and it will snap to the angle/axis

What's the move shortcut for adjusting grid size?

    Hi (I'm french),

Here's my question... I'd like to use the PS move controllers (ver. 4.0) but I don't own the PS4 camera. Is it necessary to have it in order to use the ps move controllers?

    Thank you guys!
