How do I use possession recorded animation on a timeline?
Sort of like halfway through the cutscene stream (currently cued to about the right spot, hopefully): https://youtu.be/9ihLm7bDkLk?t=1313
I want to be able to combine different possession recordings, action recordings, and/or keyframe animations on a timeline. But when I add a possession recorded animation to a timeline and play the timeline, the possession recorded animation doesn't play.

Hi there!
So you should be able to put a possession recorded animation on a timeline, does it play fine when outside of the timeline?
Are there other animations on the character on the timeline where you're trying to add it? Perhaps you could take a screenshot/photo of your timeline, or record a video to give me an idea of what you're trying and what's going wrong :)
Thanks,

Hi Catherine, thanks!
It does play outside of the timeline. Here's a video example (sorry for the squashed aspect ratio) of the sort of thing I'm trying to do - here I record some possessed movements, then play back, then add the recording to the timeline and try to play it on the timeline, and it plays outside of the timeline but not on the timeline. -
Update: I also tried putting a switch on the timeline and hooking the switch to the possession recorded animation (off the timeline), and that also did not work.

Hi there!
Thank you so much for the video I now know (I believe) what your problem you're having is. If you start time by clicking R3 or pressing the Start Time button on the assembly menu I imagine with your possession recording in the timeline it will work.
The timeline preview can preview animation paths or audio but not any form of logic, physics or gadgets when previewing.
The more info popup that appears when hovering over play says:
"Play and pause the *timeline*. Note that this does not *start time* in the *scene*, it's just a preview. Animation paths are shown, but stuff like *physics* and *puppet* animations are not triggered."
Now the reason the preview doesn't preview your possession recorded animation is because the possession record although it's animating your puppet it's actually recording all the button presses you do in the gadget, like moving your controller to make the puppet lean, moving your puppet with the sticks or jumping etc, it's all done with the controller.
So unfortunately it can't preview that so in order to see it working you'll need to either Click R3, use the Start Time button in the Assembly menu, or do you testing (while in edit mode) in Test Mode that can be found in the modes menu :)
I hope this helps explain what's going on!
Thanks,
